EAGLE DREAMCATCHER - MANDALA

This beautiful dream catcher showing a proud eagle head is also a windchime. It measures approximately 7" in diameter. The chimes measure 3 1/2" - 6". The picture in the center measures 4 1/2".

This will make a great addition to a Native American motif or Southwestern look in a room.

The Legend of the Dream Catcher

The Old Ones tell that dreams hold great power and drift about at night before coming to the sleeping ones. To keep the dreamer safe, the Old Ones created a special web, the Dream Catcher, to hang above their sleeping places. When dreams traveled the web paths, the bad dreams lost their way and became entangled, disappearing with the first rays of daybreak, like the morning dew on the grass. The good dreams, knowing their way, passed through the center and were guided gently to the sleeping ones.

Though mandala is a Sanskrit word that means circle, In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts, as a spiritual teaching tool, for establishing a sacred space, and as an aid to meditation and trance induction.

I thought I'd mention that I'm going to have another charm lot coming up soon. This one is going to have some really unique items in it, including some beautiful vintage charms.

Very pretty. I made adream catcher out of willow tree branches and real spider web from my mom's clothes line. I made it close to 15 years ago and it is still good. I put it in a display case. It belongs to one of my grandchildren and will be given to him later in life. He just turned 15 years old in Apr and he never got to meet his Great Grand mother, because my mon has past away before he was born.

I don't quite have the talent for a dreamcatcher, though I've tried. Maybe when I was younger I should've. I never would've used a spider wed though. *shudder*

I love to look at them and have seen some of the most incredible handmade ones. I think the most beautiful one I ever saw was made by a lady on a Navajo reservation in Arizona. She had used sterling silver and turquoise in it. I really wish I had had the money for it at the time.

Someone told me the spider web was how the dreamcatcher was originally made by the indians years ago. I have Cherokee Indian in me and wish I was 1/2 to 3/4 Cherokee because they were so good with the earth and crafts. I am proud I did get some Cherkee blood from my Great Grandfather who was 1/4 Cherokee. I really like the clothes and jewelry they make.

I'm just terrified of arachnids, lol. I love all animals, but the 8-legged things they can keep.

My mother said when I was about 2 we lived on Fort Huachuca, AZ and my brother put a dead tarantula in my playpen for me as a toy. She didn't find it for a few minutes, but of course by then the damage was done. She said I was backed up in a corner all wide-eyed and just staring at it and quiet.

I've never forgiven him or spiders since, lol.
