The listing, GPS Unit for PDA (free shipping) has ended.

Up for bids today I have a GPS unit that is designed specifically for pda's or computers with a compact flash slot. It is used but in like brand new condition. It also comes with the magnetic mount antenna for much longer range or for use when the main unit is not outside to pick up the signal. I'm not sure exactly how it works. My boyfriend found it at a yard sale and bought it specifically to list on here. He decided to let me list it so I could get more credits. Winner will have to download their own mapping software for whatever device they decide to put this on.

This is what's on the outside of the package:

A GPS module in CompactFlash interface.
Easy plug into any type of PDA for GPS functions.
Compatible with all handheld computing device with a type 1 or type 2 compact flash slot; as well as with all notebook pc with a pcmcia slot (when used with the pcmcia adapter.
Windows CE and Windows 98 or higher operating systems are compatible.

Questions & Comments

I'm a little concerned that the user needs to find his/her own mapping software to use with it. I'm not sure how easy it will be to find compatible software for it that doesn't also require a live internet connection.
Still, it's a great auction item and I'm sure it will do well.

There is a bunch of free mapping software you can download for this unit.

You'll still need an internet connection to download the software itself. But most pda units have what is called active sync. You have them synced with your computer and the software is actually downloaded to the pda itself through your computer.
