Up for auction is a page from the Postal Commemorative Society's "World of Stamps" series. This is one of the finest foreign issues in honor of the US Bicentennial. Upper Volta is a small republic on the west coast of Africa, which received its own independence from France in 1960. These stamps are unusual in that they are stamp-on-stamp, that is, each stamp contains an inset with a reproduction of a rare old U.S. issue appropriate to the scene depicted.
