Description

The listing, Giant Aloe Plant has ended.

Giant Aloe baby. This auction is for one plant taken from my prolific giant aloe!

I had only 1 aloe plant & did not know they bloomed until a few years ago, the spectacular stalk resembling the blooms pictured appeared. The bloom is amazing & very long lasting. The stem that the blooms appear on can be tall. I have had them reach 4 feet tall with blooms spanning 2 feet. The color pictured is the only color mine have ever displayed.

But, I started out with one tiny plant as shown in the pics. I have divided one huge pot of aloe recently, and have 20 or more babies in pots. I still have another huge family to divide and need to find homes for the babies.

The auction is for one baby as pictured. I will ship it as bare root unless I can find some small pots to place them in. These are almost self maintenance. In the winter, I move them into my sun room and water about once a month. During warm weather, I move them into a semi-shaded area (under trees or other spots) that offer some protection until the plants acclimate to full sun.

Once they get used to full sun, they are fine in the sun. But the tender babies should be kept in indirect sunlight until they toughen up!..

The parent plant can produce hundreds of babies that even grow out the drain holes if you don't divide them.

To divide them, i roll the huge parent plant into the yard and just dump the plant & dirt ball onto the ground. Then I pull the babies from the root ball & replant them into their own pots.

I have included pics of the parent plant of the babies I will ship. The bloom of that parent plant, a pic of the one I need to divided and pics of babies that will be shipped.

Free shipping. Don't bid on this auction if you live in an area where the temperature still falls below freezing. The tender babies will freeze easily. If this auction goes well, I will post more.

Awesome auction! My mom has the same plant...it started as a teeny tiny plant and over the years has taken over! We had no idea that they bloomed, until recently. Fanned and watching!

I know; I love it and have saved every baby produced. But I don't have room for anymore. I think they bloom better if they are pot bound. I know mine never bloomed until babies were crawling over the sides of the planters. The blooms last and last! I knocked the blooms off when I poured them out to divide them. The only thing I don't like is the prickly spines that grown on the sides of the mature leaves. Thanks for fanning; I will fan also.

Would be considered house plants. I just take them out at the first of spring. They grow huge when in large pots. They are also prickly similar to a cactus. These are not the small aloe people keep to treat burns; these are giant aloe.

U R welcome. Wanted to add that in some parts of the USA they are probably outdoor plants & don't require shelter from freeze and frost. We are zone 7...not sure what zones they are considered outdoor plants. I just know I have to move them inside around the last of September in NC & take them outside mid to late April.

I can do that later...end of semester & will be busy grading papers and finalizing paperwork the next week or so. Doubt I will have time to post anything for a week or 2. Will need to redo some pics to show 3 plants also. Thanks for the suggestion. Remember, these multiply like crazy.
