It comes with 5 little felt rounds, which you put a few drops of aromatherapy oil onto. They are each a different color, so you can personalize the necklace in that way as well. It is such a nice piece, I have one myself.

You can get aromatherapy oils everywhere, they even sell them at Wal-Mart! I don't see why perfume wouldn't work also, though.
