Description

The listing, Nelson McCoy Buttermilk Pitcher has ended.

Nelson McCoy Yelloware Buttermilk pitcher. This is Green Glazed Yelloware that stands 5 & 1/2" tall. The top opening is 4" wide, then from handle to spout 6 &1/4".

This pitcher has the old shield symbol on bottom.

Glaze is missing on one side of pour spout. No cracks or faults otherwise. I believe this dates from 1920 to 1926. It's a heavy solid piece, still useable in todays world.

I've tried to show all sides and the glaze missing.

WHO CARES about the chipping! Yes I am an experienced collector and when it comes to utility pieces you must respect the previous life they have had. There's very nearly no such thing left on the open market as an AUTHENTIC McCoy pitcher in perfect condition &IF you find it The price would be obscene! When I'm in my 90's I am sure I'll have cracks and chips too!Truly Beautiful piece and I'll go to my last credit to have it! There is a story to every one of those dings!!

pjpat thank you for the BEAUTIFUL comment! Almost everything I own is due to relatives past and present. I couldn't bear to have things that my Grandmother, Aunts, Uncles all who passed away be thrown out as junk.

My Grandmother had a brick spring house that simply was all delight. I can remember churning butter in the old huge glass jar with a wooden paddle. The memories are all priceless to me.

This pitcher was still in use in the early 60's!! The stoneware would condense with moisture yet keep the liguid cold!! I do remember that..

Actually it is the glaze that is missing. Not really chipped..I guess it looks like that. I tried to show it's fault on the spout.

Susan266 I rechecked the pitcher spout last night when I came home and your right it is actually a chip with missing glaze . That's why the photos are so important to viewers.
