If you look at the rest of the coin, You will see a lot of detail. It is XF to AU. Got this at a Coin Auction in Pennsylvania last summer.

are you referring to the rim ? you don`t have a picture of the edge of the coin shown. i think the first edge lettered u.s. coins were the presidential dollars.

well now, looks like i learned something new today. there was edge lettering on this coin. from my 1995 redbook, i can see the word fifty. yours being normal did not have xxxxx or IIIIIIIIII in between the rest of the words. just curious, what were the other words around the edge?

It says "Fifty Cents or Half A Dollar" By the way, there is a Lettered Version of the 1793 and 1795 Large Cent

thankx for that info.......i`ll have to go look through my type sets for any of those other coins. can`t wait to get on back up to the pine tree state to my log cabins this summer and fall. got a bad case of cabin fever!!!!!!!! lol
