Apart from being an attractive addition to any garden, marigold flowers can help repel pesky critters that nibble on your plants when set in as a border. The flowers are antiseptic; add them to a poultice to prevent infection in a wound. They can also be used externally to treat bruises, burns, sores, and skin ulcers. Excellent for soothing chapped lips, or chafed nipples in nursing mothers. Make a nice, strong infusion of the blossom and add it to a bath to help heal a sunburn. When taken as a mild tea, it can be used to relieve indigestion and diarrhea.
