Wow. THIS is SO much fun! Every one of my specimens were in the caves of a mountain less than 48 hours ago! I chiseled them out with my own two hands...and although a part of me would like to just hold on to ALL of them, never to part...I realize that would be silly. And selfish. I have SO MUCH! So, I thought of my Listia friends, and decided I should share the love. :) In return, I hope ya'll will throw a little love back to ME, by helping me get my 60 watchers badge. :)

To help you comprehend the size of the gemstone specimens in the photos, the 2nd picture is of the SMALLEST piece in the 1st picture, sitting on top of a coin. These are not small shards! And they are GORGEOUS, friends. Simply incredible!

Pictured are only a FEW of the genuine, newly mined gemstones that the winner has the opportunity to own!
THIS IS GOING TO GET BIGGER AND BETTER AS THE AUCTION PROGRESSES!!!

We will start with FOUR pieces...two amethyst and two fluorite:
For each 15 "watchers" I will add a piece of flourite.
For each 10 BIDS I will add a piece of amethyst.
For each 3000 credits, I will add a LARGE piece!

NONE will be smaller than a dime...and only very few will be THAT small. Any that ARE, will be of very fine, clear quality. The max potential is 20 reg & 6 LARGE!

If I can get my 60 watcher badge for this...I will not only send the winner every single piece that has been added up to that point...but a nice cube of bixbyite, and a rare pink topaz in addition...which I also mined only 2 days ago! (Mine are still in the cleaning process...so photo #5 is of someone else's specimen from the same mtn. range. Same color, shape & matrix.)

AND...listen to this...IF ya'll team up, and get the word out, causing me to get my 1,000 fans badge? I will ALSO send one of my two VERY LARGEST specimens...barely hold-able in the palm of an adult man's hand!

It is SUCH a fun and educational hobby...even just collecting. My kids are constantly coming up with deep questions about how each formed, etc...and we have some pretty exciting study sessions. That's the BEST kind of teaching/learning...when something sparks their curiousity, and they are EAGER to seek answers! :)

Thank you, Dear! I'm excited for the winner...but a little worried that this auction is gonna WIPE me OUT! So, I've planned another trip for Tuesday...this time to Topaz Mountain. With any luck, I'll be adding more pink, cherry & clear topaz crystals...and maybe, just maybe...a small sample of red beryl. This is SO fun to be able to share my passion with others!

It IS fun! My neighbor was really into hounding and dragged me out in the middle of "Nowhere mountain" in Georgia and we found huge black and green tourmaline, garnets, rose quartz, talc, kyinite (sp?)and micah. he had maps of old mining veins from the 18oos!

I'm assuming you collected these at in the Thomas range. A geologist friend of mine went there a year ago and got some really nice specimens. A tip to getting the best topaz there is to go to the top cliffs and cut out from there. Most of the tourists have really cleared out the lower sections.. Be prepared for the climb, lol.
About the quality of these, you said that they're all still on matrix and have this same clarity? I'm surprised you didn't collect any quartz since the rhyolite there is chock full. XD

I don't know exactly where we went (I was just lucky he didn't blindfold me!) :)...unfortunately, I fell asleep. :(. But I DO know we were at least an hour beyond Topaz Mountain. But this Thursday I am taking my sister to Topaz Mtn...so we'll keep your tips in mind. :). Oh, and quartz is SO plentiful around here, no matter where we go hiking, that I don't usually bother to bring any home. Should I?

WOW, My mother just informed me of your auction! This is Great! I LOVE the auctions that you post. Dang I really want to go hounding with my mom soon. OH, for SURE...with 6, it is hard to get any one-on-one quality time. So last time I took my 11 year old for his "Birthday Date". Today, it's my 10 year old's turn. Picture 5 is a stock photo of a Bixbyite & Pink Topaz cluster. They occur together in Rhyolite. As I stated in the description, that is the ONLY photo I posted that is not one of my own specimens. I did so only because the ones I found are currently in the cleaning process, and not ready to photograph. The picture shows one from the very same mountain range, and the same shape, color and matrix.
