No. It does not need a sim card.

No. Cricket don't require sim cards.

Well it depends on the person and what the service is used for. Cricket is UNLIMITED talk (anywhere in the US) and text (including pic text) for $40 a month. The only down side is you have to have roaming to use your phone outside of cricket covrage area. (But they have plans for that.) So if you don't travel much then Cricket is great.

has it been turned by cricket for at least a month? i have cricket and am interested in this phone, but i know it has to have been off for a month before someone eles can get it turned on. thank You.

No. It has been inactive for a while. So it should be no problem getting turned on.
