No. It covers the carseat do baby isn't exposed to the elements. No rain or strong wind. People usually cover the carseat with a blanket but on a windy day, a blanket doesn't work well. It zips and has a flap to flip up and see baby's face. You just cover baby while outside and then open the flap and unzip front when you get to the car or in the house or store. If you haven't used one before, it's a definite must. Especially for first time parents!

So it is like a full canopy? If the car seat has like half canopy will it still attach to that and then aroung the bottom of the carseat? It's weird looking - like the baby would sufficate. But I do understand the concept. It would be helpful if you would post a picture showing how it covers the carseat. Thank you.
