It's really easy to learn if you have the right person teaching you. I would recommend asking your local crafts/yarn store if they offer lessons for knitting and crocheting. My first scarf looked horrible, but with practice everyone gets better :) I've been knitting and crocheting for almost 10 years and now I can do anything! But small things are very fun to make for anybody.

There are plenty of videos on Youtube you can learn crocheting off of. I've used them to learn new stitches and I've been crocheting since I was 7 years old.

Great idea! I'll have to check it out. There are also lots of books about crocheting at your local library. I learned from my aunt and various books.
