No it doesn't but you take the metal grinder w/handle off and you put food down inside the container and as you slowly push down after putting handle/grinder back on, then the food starts up towards the grinder and you turn at the same time and the food slowly comes out in smaller bits. Example like fresh peas. You would want this if your wanting to give your baby fresh home grown instead of out of a jar from store. Hope this helps..DaWayne

I had one of these with my last child and it's really handy. It makes it easy to feed baby whatever the rest of the family is eating.
