Description

The listing, Common Milkwort - nothing common about it! has ended.

Beutiful dark green foliage with petite blue flowers. Plant in part shade/part sun. Spreads rapidly, makes new roots at joints. Brightens any shady area. Drought tolerant, likes damp area, rocky areas, makes a good ground cover as it will choke out weeds.

Polygala vulgaris, known as the Common Milkwort, is a herbaceous perennial plant of the genus Polygala belonging to the Polygalaceae family. Delicate blue flowers on green foliage. Grows in shady to light sun. Drought tolerant, spreads rapidly, can be invasive if not cut back.

Roots are excellent for coughs, particularly when there is excess phlegm, and for bronchitis and asthma. It should be used when the power to expectorate is small - very useful in the second stage of acute bronchial catarrh or pneumonia. It is of little value when the expectoration is tough and scanty, but very helpful in chronic pneumonia or bronchitis or dropsy dependent on renal disease. It has been used also in croup, whooping-cough, and rheumatism.

In Chinese medicine, it calms the spirit and opens the flow of chi in the heart, which in western terms may be related to its sedative and tranquilizing properties. Used for anxiety, insomnia, palpitations, poor memory, and depression, especially in cases of excessive brooding and pent-up emotions

I combine shipping, no problem there. The milkwort is all ready rooted, all you have to do it plant it! I have started them in water and several of them have long, long roots. Definately need to get them planted.
