It doesn't have a backlight, sorry. There is a piece you can buy for cheap that attaches and adds light...we have one, but it's my sisters!

There is a battery pack and a charger so you won't have to buy batteries for it!
Although the charger and battery pack is apart of my other auction so they would have to be bought separately!
