No, this came from jewelery my grandmother gave me, I stay home 24/7 so I have saved long enough, my daugher chose what she liked and I saved what I really liked and the rest goes on listia. thanks for asking. and commenting cherie

Nice old jewelry from your grandmother, probably a lot of it is decent costume. Be sure to check for maker's marks, some designers are somewhat valuable--you can check on ebay to try to determine value.

Yeah, for sure, then, check for marks. Even if you don't know what the mark means, try to get a good photo of it so jewelry collectors can identify it. The more info you give, generally the more bids you will get. It's quite a science, auctioning items online. I was an ebay seller for a long time and was very successful, so I know a few tricks of the trade! If you have any really desireable designer jewelry, you should try to get some cash for it on ebay or elsewhere, instead of giving it away.

my mom had tons of jewelry, too. It was all real and valuable, but my dad ended up giving it all away when she died. Don't make the same mistake.

Ebay can be hard to deal with, but can be worth using if you have something reasonably valuable to sell. If you have valuable costume, you also could see what you can get for it at some antique shops, possibly even local auctions that have a decent following of jewelry bidders ... they will give you about half of retail, but you don't have to hassle with it. Ebay is a LOT of hassle, and if you don't have a strong track record as a seller, a lot of people won't bid from you on ebay. You also could sell costume on etsy or bonanzle, those two sites are free/cheap to use and have a pretty good following of customers.

You areso full of great knowledge, I really appreciate the time yo have taken to help me. I have a question do you understand how valuable the credits are on this site, like dollar wise versus credits? I have not been able to figure that out. I am new to internet much less bidding sites, my sister told me about listia and I have had alot of fun wih it, I havent had too many problems with buyers and it is easy to operate, but I havent found much lately to bid on..... Again thanks for all your information I need all the help I can get....Cherie

I don't think you can place a real value on credits. Part of the problem is evaluating the value of the time you spend working on listings. I've earned more than 4,000 credits, but spent about $40 in postage, but gained about $100 in "free stuff" that I've won. The math is tricky and it's never gonna add up. Just do Listia if you WANT to and you feel it is valuable to YOU ... but don't get so bogged down that you ignore you other responsibilities (I'm on the cusp of this precipice).
