The listing, J.R. WOOD & SONS VINTAGE EARLY 1900'S ERA 14K GOLD SEAMLESS FLAT WEDDING BAND has ended.

This was my grandmothers wedding ring.It's beautiful but as you can see in pics it won't even fit my pinkie.I'd like it to go to someone that will enjoy it instead of it sitting in a box. I've included the history of Wood & Sons and a link to an almost identical band selling on Ruby Lane for $625.The value of the gold by weight and today's market value is around $170.The ring shows a bit of expected wear and some very minor surface-scratching, but is free from any dents, deep grooves or any other flaws that can't be solved with by taking to a jeweler to be cleaned and polished. Feel free to ask questions but if the answer is already included in details I WILL NOT reply.
Size: 6" Band is 1/4" wide and rises 1/16" from finger Gram weight: 5.4 g

Wood, manufactured jewelry in Brooklyn, NY starting in 1850.In 1919, the company was recognized for its skills in diamond cutting, wedding ring making and for the manufacturing of fine gold and platinum jewelry.The company designed and produced, bracelets, broaches/pins, cuff buttons,cuff links,bangles, rings, lockets, and pocket watches using 10K, 14K and 18K gold with some filigree and platinum metal use.

Your absolutely right commis there are great people on listia but not gullible. If you took this to a cash for gold place you might get 100 bucks thats it. Your sentimental value is irreplaceable. I uarantee nobody bids on this. In fact i bet you your ring nobody bids. People who are on listia are those who are less fortuate and arent haded everything in life. Thats why i give away great items because i dont care for materialistic things but obviously your the typical american whie girl that expects te world handed to them. God have mercy on your soul.

I think this is a beautiful ring and love the story about your grandparents and i don't blame you i would want it to go to a couple that would appreciate it for what it is and not melt it down. also its your ring you can ask what you want and people that are going to be mean should refrain from commenting.Good Luck!

Thank you! My mom told me something when I was a kid that has always stuck with me. She said there are people in this life that some how ended up with a big handful of crap (insert other 4 letter word for it). They don't want to be the only one with this crap on their hands so they try and pass it off onto anyone they can. It's up to you to spot them and let them know you're not taking their crap and that they need to keep that crap to themselves. She was spot on. I don't really know but I Googled it and found a website that stated the following: A plain wedding ring can be made smaller by a shrinking process; and also made bigger by a stretching process. This is only applicable to seamless rings and any enlargement is limited.

After the comments the last two people left I want t make a few things clear. My decision on what starting bid and GIN would be are not based on sentimentality. If I was that sentimental about it I wouldn't be listing it. I have things of hers that mean much more to me then this ring. It doesn't fit me and never will and I don't have children to pass it along to so why not let someone that would love it and wear it own it? If you want to better understand why it's priced the way it is when it's just a simple, elegant gold band please do some homework on the designer before you quote me what the melt value would be on this item as Trollingtrev felt the need to do. It is sentimental enough to me that I don't want some broken jewelry troll winning it and melting it down. My grandmother wore it in love throughout my grandfathers life and until the end of hers. I would love to see it be a symbol like that for another couple. Therefore, it's been priced out of range for those looking for items to melt for cash. Thanks for taking time to look, read and bid. Sorry, that formula is incorrect as it is based on 28 grams per ounce, gold is measured in troy ounces, a troy ounce is 31.1 grams. Hope that helps :))))))

I remember having my mom's and it was from the same jeweler, but unfortunately mine was lost in a house fire. I believe it is your right to set the credits for what you feel, it should go to a home to have another loving couple. Good Luck and many Blessings!

Actual Gold value of this today is $171.97, even if it was pure gold the actual gold value would be 293.96, sorry, I am a Jewelry Artist by trade and often order gold shot or solder and I just wanted to let you know that you have the Market value incorrect, it is a very nice ring and well worth the starting bid :)

OMG I love you for that!! I love vintage everything! I've owned 2 vintage stores in the past. Years ago I had this beautiful Joan Crawford-esque red vintage jacket. I always got so many compliments when I wore it and honestly people would almost go a little too gaga over it. I considered it my lucky jacket for many years and I always wondered who the original owner was that had left such a strong imprint on it. I've worn red and I've worn great vintage style but never has a piece of clothing attracted so much attention. That's why I love vintage. It's like a piece of someone or somewhere that's long since gone yet still alive in a sense. Meant to be enjoyed by someone new and eventually passed on, hopefully, again and again. He said, " If you go around patting yourself on the back all of the time for the things you do, then you don't deserve any pats from anybody else". You are doing the right thing by not hiding comments like that. It gives those of us a chance to block people we would not like to see on our own auctions.

WOW. You are amazing. I just love the way you "tell it like it is". I've got nothing but respect for someone like you who will stand up and fight when attacked by scum. Awww thanks! As a female DJ you can bet I've met my share of bullies. I don't understand why people like to be ugly just for the sake of being ugly. At work I have to maintain an air of professionalism, of course, o I've learned to be firm and when that doesn't work how to subtly be a b!*ch with a smile on my face to confuse and keep them guessing. In regards to Trev, I took a look at his auctions, comments, etc and one thought kept popping up about a reoccurring theme. Most people I know that truly do things only to "help others" don't need to keep touting that fact and patting themselves on the back. I also found it funny that he has had his share of auction hecklers which he didn't take kindly to at all yet turns around and does it to someone else. Just beautiful !! I think what I like about the vintage things is wondering what it has been through. To bad it can't tell the story. I bet it would be a good one. But some times it is best to just wonder. I have one just like it that was my Grandpa's & I only know part of it's story.
