She is sooooo beautiful!! I have other McCoy pieces and there was a time when it seems there was an issue with their red paint-or so I was told by a dealer about 20-25yrs ago. I watched as the red bandana paint Slowly began to run down my piggie pepper shaker as I was washing it! Could have been too hot or too chemical or the paint issue.Point is- When I'm this grand ladys age I expect my paint to be a bit worse for the wear too! She's as HOT as any current supermodel in my book!! Glorious prize!!
I have one just like her that my grandmaw left me and I had it looked at by someone who sells antiques and she told me they where worth about $300, she begged for mine but no way will I part from it, I have her way high up where no one can touch her lol, she means soooo much to me, she is like part of my family lol and she is priceless to me
This is amazing....I sell vintage, have bought vintage for years and years, more years than I can count and have never seen this, or anything quite like it. I think the pain wore off because it's......OLD. Really, really old....and just freakin awesome. LOL It's so NOT pc, but times were not pc back then....wow...just super cool....def watching
You asked. I answered. I think you'll get a lot for this. I hope you do. Sometimes such a high start bid can scare people off from bidding. That's all I meant. I told you it's an awesome piece and think/hope you'll do well.
I wish I had the credits to buy this. We had one in our family for many years until after my parents died and a guy calling himself Junker Dave from South Dakota stole it and other stuff my mom collected for years (he goes around ripping people off all over that general area- MN, SD, ND). He said he would return it all but never did and police said to just get a lawyer but he already sold on eBay and too bad for ever getting back the actual items. :( Anyhow nice auction. My mom repainted hers (and the matching S&P shakers) with a paint marker pen back in the 80s.
Fanned and watching, I am from Erwin, TN My Great Great Aunt worked at the Pottery house in Erwin, TN where she made and painted Blue Ridge Pottery we have several complete sets of pottery and platters. With this jar it is wonderful. Some of these are rare that are called the planes or plane glazed. Meaning they were fired first then painted. This is just was I have learned my Great Great Aunt I'm not sure its the same for McCoy but that is what happens to the paint but it does not take away from the wonderful cookie jar. I have seen these here in Jonesborough and Pottery shows go for 1,000 dollars or more when the market was peeked. The most I have paid for a cookie jar was for the little red riding hood I had to have it. This piece is wonderful and whoever gets it will be very lucky especially if you are a collector. I love this piece.......I will keep my eye on this until it ends. I love love this.........
omg...shes awesome..sure wish i had the credits ...I also have VERY old antigue cookie jar, just not sure who the maker is..but she looks like yours but does not have the mc coy name on it. mine came from my dad,who got it for his mom in the 30,s.
Lovely! My mother had one that was a dutch girl. The paint wore off of it too. She gave it to me before she died. Love it, but I have so many things that were hers that I passed it on to my niece. Great auction!
I didnt take into account the free shipping...I wish I had more credits!!! I want this soooooo bad. lol I know she's priceless and I am in love....sigh
I have this same cookie jar!!!I LOVE IT!It came from my great aunt.I got mine when she passed away in her 80's.I was about 18.She had kept it on top of her fridge ever since I could remember. She took very good care of it even putting masking tape around the rims so they would not chip. I have my own horror story with the paint...When I got it I put it on top of the fridge like her.Well after time it got dusty.I used windex to clean it not knowing any better. The paint started coming off like a dry erase marker would.I about had a heart attack and quickly ran it under water!Thankfully that stopped it from doing further damage.I learned a valuable lesson that day!
