I believe it is glass, it looks like glass to me. It is amazing, I don't know how someone had the patience to make it.

Hi, this came from my husband's family and was picked up in Italy on one of their trips. I believe it was bought in a outdoor market. Not sure of the date or any other history.

What is the history of it? Where did you get it and how old is it? How do you know it is Italian?

This piece, in all likelihood, was made in Venice and is a typical of glass work from there called "Millefiori", a combination of the Italian words "mille" (thousand) and "fiori" (flowers). Very nice.
