This would be good for a road trip or hikes, especially if you already have another one to serve as campsite or hike base? It's a GE brand, there is a 12v jack, or it will take 8 AA batteries. A handy thing to have and at least you don't have to do the breaker, breaker thing...

At least around here, most channels are usually free of inane chatter.

Sorry, R-hatchet- this is only an older portable CB transceiver - Citizen's Band only. It does not scan either. If you want to pick up police frequencies, Google for that- there are many that you can listen to on the Internet. I use radioreference.com for that.

I often find that Canadian shipping is about the same or less than US shipping. I was messing around with this thing earlier and picked up some guys talking in Russian. Probably just local truckers who happen to be from Russia?

I have had this CB for probably 10 years and I think I got it at a garage sale.

yeah will be nice to toy with. I have a trams AM CB radio base station it rocks. Need a new good big Antenna.
