20 seeds.

This biennial blooms summer to early fall. 3' - 4' tall. Likes full sun yet will tolerate some shade. Can tolerate some cold but is only hardy to Zone 6 and possibly protected areas of Zone 5.

Attracts honeybees and other pollinators.

Purplish blue flowers grow in tall bushy spires and are strongly scented with a high resin content. The entire plant releases a pleasant fragrance in the garden.

Both leaves and flowers are edible. Flowers are often candied or dipped in batter and fried as a delicious fritter. Leaves can grow to be 6-8" dish size, they are mild flavored and can be used in cooking. A common dish served In Victorian times were of the whole, large leaves dipped in four and egg and sauteed til golden brown.

Tea is made from both the leaves and flowers and has a calming, uplifting effect.

Clary Sage is best know for its therapeutic properties; antidepressant, antiphlogistic, anti-spasmodic, aphrodisiac, deodorant, emmenagogue, hypotensive, nervine, sedative, tonic and uterine.

Yes, the seeds are completely organic. I have been growing them for a few years now and my original source was "Organic Certified from Botanical Interests". I use ONLY organic, sustainable, chemical free, amendments and fertilizers.

hi candy003, yes it does best in Zone 9, 8, 7 and can survive 6, but zones lower on the scale are too cold for it. It seems to do ok with short term frosts that occur in warmer zones, but is relative to the mint family so the leaves are a bit delicate for long harsh winters.

They will grow in zone 8 but any colder than zone 5 {with protection} they will not survive. They may need to be placed where there is part sun and part shade in hotter climates.Hope this helps.
