can these flakes be melted down?

they can but you must be EXTREMELY careful in doing so; they will blow away if a direct flame is put on them so your best bet is using an enclosed crucible and an oven or fire pit of sorts

I have a crucible and can use a torch on the crucible to melt it, I'm ready to melt gold flakes, I have everything I need to do so

just be very careful you do not put the flame directly over the flakes, let the crucible itself get very very hot first otherwise they will blow all over the place; making it nearly impossible to re-gather
