When you answer an incoming call your music is paused and resumes when you hang up. When I had this connected to my LG phone I could hit the call button and just say the name to dial.

How long does the batteries last and how long is it

It is not something you replace. It is like a Bluetooth, it is something you recharge. How long is what ? The longest time of continuous use of listening to music was 6 hours and the charge was not out even at that point, but that is the longest we used it for. It does come with the charger.
